I don't know if they have been doing background checks on men who want to become priest. I don't even know how to find the answer to that question! :)

It's important to do the background check. But that's not enough. Every Bishop has the right to full disclosure on every priest who is being transferred to his diocese. A background check will bring up convictions, but full disclosure will give the big picture.

A priest may have had a child w/ an adult. That will never come up in a criminal background check, but the Bishop might want to know that before assigning the priest.
