Subject: Saint Brendan - lucky book find

I went to the library to borrow the movie, The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pitman, and found a treasure, too!

An autographed copy of "The Brendan Voyage, A Leather Boat Tracks the Discovery of America by the Irish Sailor Saints"

It was autographed to his grandparents. At least I think it was the author who signed it. It's inscribed "To Granny and Grandpa, For Crosshaven - Dingle and then Texas. Affectionately, Tim. I suppose it could be any Tim. It could be that his parents were from that area in Ireland, so that's why he bought them the book. But I like to think it's "the" Tim.

Anyway, the man sailed a leather boat from Ireland to America, proving that the legend of St Brendan could have been true. I haven't read it yet, so I don't know all the ins and outs of it, but I love a good sea story. :)

Maybe we'll be in for a new history soon? :)

Joan
