It gets rather complicated, lining up all these prophesies sometimes. Thus, I'd have to be in the 'possibly' camp.

Do you speak of Malachi from the old testament, the last book of the O.T.? -- Catie, 04:48:18 08/28/07 Tue [1] (h69.42.91.75.ip.alltel.net/75.91.42.69)
If so, then I missed that prophecy and need to go back and have another look. :)
What do you as a Catholic think about that prophesy?

Yep, Catie, the Malachi from the O.T. -- Neysa, 09:37:13 08/28/07 Tue [1] (user-38lcifp.dialup.mindspring.com/209.86.73.249)
As a Catholic his prophesy scares me. He also states that it will also mean the end of the Catholic Church.
At first I laughed at his prophesies. He stated that there would be only two more popes after John Paul II. In April of 2005 when a new pope was being elected. The prophet mentioned the olive branch. The olive branch means peace.
I will never forget this, I was in Rome when Pope Benedict was installed as the new pope. It was Tuesday afternoon, I was standing waiting to get inside the Vatican to pick up the tickets I requested for Pope Benedicts first Wednesday Audience. While I was waiting a priest from Ireland and a nun from England started to chat with me. I can't remember exactly what the nun said. But, I remember saying that Malachi was a fraud that I didn't believe in him. His prediction of the next pope was wrong. This pope came from Germany he didn't fit the olive branch that meant peace. The nun said that the prophesy did come true that the name Benedict meant peace and represents the olive branch. I remember I got a chill. All I thought was how ironic that I am talking about this at the Vatican of all places.
Then at the pope's audience he explained why he took his name and that it meant peace.
I now believe in St. Malachi's prophesy it really scares me.

Re: I hope no one gets angry at me... -- Phil, 12:55:04 08/29/07 Wed [1] (71-223-16-142.phnx.qwest.net/71.223.16.142)
...but I think you folks are referring to the wrong guy. The book of Malachi is from the Old Testament. I think this Malachy (Irish: Maelmhaedhoc Ó Morgair) is a 12th century saint, who made the 'prophesy of the 112 popes'. St Malachy was a clergyman in Ireland during most of his life. To be honest, I didnt know much abt him, till I moved in Ireland.
Hope I didnt stir up too much. Take care, God Bless,
Phil from AZ

The book of Malachi from the OT I have read. Irishman, Maelmhaedhoc Ó Morgair, I have not heard of. I went back to Malachi and tried to find the Pope info, with no success. When that info was first posted I thought maybe I had forgotten something in that book, since I seem to have forgotten so much. It is easy to understand how a lay person could get them confused I think.

Phil, is correct this St. Malachi, is the 12th century bishop of Armagh in Ireland, and not from the O.T.
