I looked it up on the web. An angel named Moroni, told Joseph Smith about the golden plates. I thought the angel had written the plates. Lynn, who wrote the text found on these plates ?

Mormon beliefs are based upon two documents. Book of Mormon, and Doctrines and Covenants. Mormons accept the Bible, but much of the Book of Mormon, and Doctrines and Covenants contradict the Bible.

The Catholic Church which recognizes the baptisms of most denominations, has stated that Mormons who convert to Catholicism must be rebaptized. The Vatican's Congregation for the Doctrine of Faith decided the Mormon view on the nature of God was too different from its own.

The Catholic Church could not accept Mormon belief that God the Father had a wife, the Celestial Mother, with whom he procreated Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit.

The Mormons teach that God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost are three separate entities, and that God has a body of flesh and bone. Which also differs from the Catholic teaching.

You are on the right track with everything you've written Neysa, as to who wrote it the golden plates, our church will tell you that God wrote it.
