Neysa, come out, come out wherever you are. -- Joan, 12:57:44 08/06/07 Mon [1] (ip68-0-253-131.ri.ri.cox.net/68.0.253.131)
I've been pronouncing (in my head) your name like Nay'-suh. Is that right?
Joan

No, Joan........ -- Neysa, 13:09:01 08/06/07 Mon [1] (user-38lcim4.dialup.mindspring.com/209.86.74.196)
It is pronounced like Lisa. Instead of the L you put on the N.

Nee (long e's) Nee-suh. When I meet people and they cannot remember my name, or have difficulty saying it, I just tell them to call me Lisa.
Please don't ask why my mom didn't spell it Nisa. She doesn't know. It was spelled in the book of children's names as Neysa.
You were close, most people on their first attempt always say my name as Nay-suh. They also pronounce it as Neesha.
To be honest I don't like my name. My mom should have just named me Lisa. When I was born I was named Neysa Melissa. My mom told the nurse about a half hour later she made a mistake. Renamed me Neysa Michelle.
When I turned 18, my dad was willing to give me the money for me to change my name legally. I was going to change it from Neysa to Lisa. You think my mom was going to have a nervous break down the way she cried and carried on about it. I never changed it.

My daughter's middle name is Lisa.
It is her first name that folks have problems with though. Her name is Arlyn with a soft Ar and a hard lyn. There are those who tend to pronounc a hard Ar and a soft lyn. Go figure.

I'm not sure I understand. By hard do you mean accented?
I would accent "Ar" (are) and then add lyn (lin), so it would be Ar'-lin. It would rhyme w/ the last name Carlin.
Should it be Ar-lin'?
Joan
