I'm just going to state what I remember being taught in Catholic School. It is simply this: When Jesus comes again, it will be the end of the world. Those in the state of grace without sins will go to heaven. Those not in the state of grace, and with sin will go to purgatory, suffer for their sins, but will be let into heaven after they have suffered. The people who have done evil acts will go to hell.
I don't know what you are talking about when you refer to the RAPTURE ?

There is no term "Rapture" in the bible. That is what some Christians call the return of Christ. There is a movie out and I can't remember the name of it, but it's about the return of Christ. It adheres to a belief that many protestants have, that Christ will return in a secret sort of fashion. He will take only Christians and leave all others here. Then after some time has passed he returns to judge the earth. Clearly your Church doesn't believe that theory. I have a problem with that one too.

We believe in the 2nd coming, but not a 3rd. -- Joan, 08:23:54 07/26/07 Thu [1] (ip68-0-253-131.ri.ri.cox.net/68.0.253.131)
We don't use the word "rapture", but we do believe in the 2nd coming.
"... He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead".
We don't believe, because it's the belief is not supported by the Bible, that anything will be done in secret. We don't believe that Jesus will come more than once again.
Joan

I agree. (SHOCK!) lol
The scriptures speak of his return "Every eye will behold him, every tongue confess" Something so great as the sky splitting open and the son of God standing in the clouds, couldn't possibly be overlooked by the world. :)

I never heard of a 3rd coming. What religion believes that ?
I forgot that when Jesus comes again he will not only judge the living but also the dead. I never understood that part of him judging the dead. They were already judged when they died. Why will they be judged again. Those already in heaven could possibly be sent to hell. Those in hell might be sent to heaven?

Neysa, I'd be afraid to say what denominations specifically for fear I'd be incorrect. But I'd wager to say the vast majority of protestants believe in a rapture. A 3rd return if you will.
Wow. Your 2nd part question is not so easily addressed. There's no brief answer to it. It is yet another great divide in our beliefs. I will expound and explain my loooong point of view if you are interested. :)

Yikes! Me a college professor? Only if the subject required yapping in general. But thanks. Fact is dear, I once knew my P's and Q's. Now I am so forgetful it scares me. I can quote poetry and bible scripture, learned years ago. But I can't remember where to put quotation marks, I forget dates, and can't even name simple objects on some days, objects like Coffee mug, tylenol, etc. Scary I tell you! I am getting to the place that relaying info, explaining something simple is a real task. That's bad for a lot of reasons but mostly because I am a writer and need to be able to express myself in words. Somedays i just shut down completely. Old age or too much meds? I don't know but I do so appreciate your and Joan's patience with me. :)

Today I really can't do any heavy thinking. Grrr. I need to rest my wee brain cells. I will post the info you are asking, as well as address some other points posted here, perhaps tomorrow. Maybe if not then, Monday. I'm a tad stressed but it will pass. I have surgery Tuesday and will be gone at least one day, lol, so I do want to get them answered before I go in to surgery. :)

Too much meds can do that, make one forgetful. My aunt is on a lot of meds and sometimes she gets forgetful just like you descibed. Six years ago my mom was told she has alzheimers. When she started to repeat herself over and over, and forget simple words. I started her on Vit. E. It has helped. I also give her Vit E. for her heart.
Catie, best of luck with your surgery on Tuesday!
