I don't have a strong feeling about him one way or the other. I didn't about PJPII when he was new.

Time will tell if he's an effective Pope.

Now this is silly, but his looks bother me. He has creepy eyes. It has nothing to do w/ his ability, but they do creep me out. :-)

We knew when he was elected that he is very conservative. He is acting in character, so that's a good thing. IMO, the last thing the CC needed was a liberal-thinking Pope.

Joan

He hasn't been in long enough for me to say yet if I like him, or if I don't.

I have to be careful and try not to keep comparing him to John Paul II.

However, this pope seems a lot more conservative than JPII.

Pope Benedict is allowing the Mass to be said in Latin weekdays and once on Sunday. I just hope that during his pontificate we don't revert back to the Latin Mass entirely, like it was before Vatican II. Pope Benedict also banned the use of all musical instruments (guitar, drums, flute etc...), during the Mass, except for the organ. I used to love going to a guitar Mass. My mom and I would sometimes go to a Catholic Church a half hour away for Mass because they had a group that sang, played the drums, guitar, piano...it was beautiful). He has also banned liturgical dance during the Mass. Only sacred hymns can now be sung.
