You mentioned that you were brought up in a Reform Jewish household. Do Reform Jews believe that God is a HE, or can be a SHE, or is without gender?

How many different types of Judiasm are there? Is Orthodox, the strictest ?

What is your view of the ( I'm not sure how to spell it, or refer to them.) Hassidic...Hassidim---they dress all in black have long curls for sideburns ? The only time I've seen them is in NYC, or when I'm at the Newark, or JFK Airport.

I grew up knowing many people who were Hassidic. Very different than Reform. My family was Reform, and so we kept seperate dishes/pot and pans for everyday use and then had the dishes/pots and pans for holidays. I remember once that my grandfather accidently used a dish that was used for the holidays and my grandmother bopped him with her cane.

Hassidic Jews keep a kosher home on a daily basis and spouses sleep seperately from each other. They dress in black because they should not stand out like worldly people do, and do not cut their hair.

Orthodox is the highest form of Judiasm, you are correct.

Your gonna laugh at this one...

When I was younger a bunch of kids on a Friday evening went to an Orthodox synagogue and threw a bunch of pennies out in the middle of the street. They wanted to wait and watch what they would do when they came out of the synagogue. I could have told them that they would have picked them up, but that would have spoiled their fun. The kids had no idea how hard it was for most of these people before coming to America, and that 1 cent meant something to them. To the kids it may have seemed like a penny and what can a penny buy, but save 100 pennies and before you know it, you have a dollar. Them kids didn't even think about it because they probably had a dollar or more that they threw in the street. They could have bought ice cream or candy with it. Instead they wanted to make fun of the Jews. How sad.

By the sound of it that those kids wanted to "prove" that Jews like their money! Isn't that one of the oldest and most misguided misconceptions of all! :-(

they were called penny pinching in my day. That's why the kids did that. If they only knew of the struggles during the Depression, they would understand why so many people during that time who came from other countries held on tight to whatever money they had.

Reform Jews can believe what they wish about God, whether God be a male, female, or something other than that is their choice. All views are respected.
I am not one who likes the fanaticism of the Hassidic Jew. Believe it or not they are not overly loved in Israel either. My brother who lives on a Kibbutz in the Golan Heights has told me alot about that! They are too extreme.
