She was mildly worried about Angelina, the woman was far stronger than her on the outside but deep down Laurie Ann knew she was probably a bundle of nerves. She had a daughter to worry about and it’d been the topic of a lot of discussion on what she’d say to the girl when she got older. Laurie hadn’t believed telling the child her father was dead had been wise, but as nothing had been shown to prove otherwise she’d kept her mouth shut. She’d been in few relationships so she didn’t know the ins and outs of what was appropriate or not, she’d only known what to do or not to do with Toby. Her experience rested in him. He’d given her the strength to speak up when she’d normally been quiet, loved her despite the shyness, and overall cared for her like any girl could dream of. Fancy truck, nice house, friends and family that loved her…she’d had it all. She could only hope to possibly get something similar again, but to do that she needed him. It’d only ever been him. Watching as her words hit home the expressions that wandered his face enough to nearly make her laugh, comical as they appeared on him. His paused words were listened to as she gave a soft smile, slender hand reaching out and very tentatively reaching for his. ”I do, mean it.” She blushed then realized she should set some guidelines and there was still the issue of him possibly leaving again, something she’d never worried about before. ”But I need to know, need you to promise, that you won’t leave again…not unless I can go with you.” She couldn’t handle being left behind again, she just couldn’t. There was also the issues of explaining to the rest why she took him back, perhaps it was that simple fact that despite everything this was the first mistake he’d ever done with her…a big one, but the first nonetheless. She wasn’t jaded like the others and hopefully she never would be. <>b>”How about we just play it by ear? There’s a lot that’s happened and I don’t want to rush…I have some loose ends to tie up elsewhere still.” Like canceling her trip to Europe and telling the buyer for her truck she was no longer interested in selling it. ”Is…is that okay?” She hoped so, she really did. |
