Subject: (Clarification) This is not a go at The Ox and Johns trade
In reply to: D9 's message, "Yes, but what is the commodity worth if the rules change" on 3/07/20 5:45pm

Under the current environment, that trade seems to be fair. But if other sides, who stockpile ruckman wasn't happening, the solution would be much easier to rectify than having to give away such a high draft pick.

Or, something that isn't ideal is having two sides weakening in a certain aspect.

The Ox, will have short term success with Sinclair and Frawley, and mediocre success with Townsend and Gibbons. In a couple of years, his age profile will be poor, as it was a year or so ago when he had many 30+ players.

John on the other hand, if Rankin continued to get injured, will have poor depth because he gave four players to gain one. Then have very "Off the pace" players who in the AFL may not even be there next year when list cuts come in with the players he gets to replace the holes with mid season picks, or late picks in the National Draft at years end.
