To answer the first question first, I spanked bare for the same reasons my mother did. First, the embarrassment of being spanked bare, lasts longer than the pain. Especially if witnessed by others. Second, you don't have to hit as hard to get your point across. When you spank over clothing, you have no real idea just how much damage is being done. I have seen photos of children who were paddled at school over clothing and there was massive bruising and even worse. You can be hitting a lot harder than you realize or you might be having little or no effect at all. On bare skin there is no doubt. Third you can tell by the effect when you have done enough. When the bottom is a bright shade of pink that's all you need to do.
Next question. No, I didn't spank my children in front of strangers. Public spankings were done in the restroom, car, or other semi-public location. You never know about the stranger watching you spank your kids. In this day and age it might be someone who wants to report you for abuse or on the other hand it could be a pervert wanting to post pictures on the dark web. At home was a different matter. My kids were not bashful about their bodies and often saw each other undressed, so there was no real reason to make spankings at home private. There were also times they misbehaved together and got spanked together witnessing each other's spankings.
Next, my children are four years apart in age.
Next, the spanking I gave my son in front of the babysitter and the one I gave her son at her request was given with a plastic paddle shaped cutting board. I gave them three swats each over my knee. Yes they teared up some and their bottoms were a little pink. But no real damage other than hurting their pride a little.
I spanked my kids mostly by hand throughout their childhood. There were times I used implements such as a small leather belt, a paddle or hairbrush. I was always a little tentative about using implements because I didn't want to leave bruises or welts. It's funny but both of my kids preferred that I use the belt or paddle instead of my hand because I hit harder with my hand than with the implements. My son's last spanking was ten swats with a paddle. He had earned a detention at school and like my mother I believed, if you get in trouble at school, you get in trouble at home. He took it better than I expected and later told me he was glad I didn't use my hand. My mother used her hand from the time she started spanking us until about age seven. That was the first time I remember her using a hairbrush on me. As we got older, instead of her hand, she usually used a flyswatter, hairbrush, "cute little deer" paddle or a belt.
My last spanking, That was given with a flyswatter. My sister who was ten at the time and I were both two hours late coming home and missed dinner. We hadn't told mom where we were going and she was not happy. When we walked in, she chewed us out pretty good then pulled a chair away from the table. She made my sister pull her shorts and panties down and lay across the chair. She raised up her oversized T Shirt and wore her out the with flyswatter. Karen kicked and bawled her eyes out. And I admit, I was pretty anxious standing watching and waiting for my turn. When she let her up, she didn't even bother to pull her clothing back up, she stood bawling and rubbing her red behind. Then it was my turn. I was told to pull my pants down and bend over. I guess an act of defiance or stupidity, I only pulled my pants down. Mom pushed me over the chair, and began spanking me over the seat of my underwear. My underwear offered no protection at all. She stopped, dragged me up and informed me that when she tells me to pull down my pants, she wants to see my bare ass. then told me to drop em. Once my bottom was bare, I was bent back over the chair and she wore me out again. It was very uncomfortable sitting on those hard wood chairs eating our dinner cold after she got done with us.
The spanking in the store you asked about was in a Sears and I was eight at the time. We were totally off the chain that day acting out in public and we all knew better. In fact we were reminded of the last time we acted up in public just a few months before in another department store. On that day, mom took us out to the car and one at a time our bottoms were bared and we went over her knee. Then five crying kids had to sit in the back seat on that warm day with burning bottoms and wait until my aunt and grandmother finished their shopping. While were sitting in the back, my mother turned around and told us, "If you ever act like that again in public, I will pull down your pants and bust your bare butts in the store, right in front of God and everybody." Having heard that threat and experienced such a spanking in the past, I knew it was no empty threat. That day a few months later, we actually were behaving ourselves.... for a while. But my cousins, Carmen and her brothers, started acting up with Carmen being the ring leader. It wasn't long before my brother, who was the eleven year old you asked about, got into the act. I finally gave into the peer pressure and joined in on the "fun". It was about that time, that mom caught us and "the party was over". She took us back to the Shoe Department and sat in a chair and repeated the statement she had made only a few months before. Then she made my youngest cousin Jimmie who was six, bare his bottom and turn over her knee and wore him out. I was next since she went from youngest to oldest. I am not ashamed to say I was crying before my pants came down, and got to hear that famous line, "I'm gonna give you something to cry about." and she did too. Then my cousin Robbie who was nine was next and the crowd started to gather around at that point. My brother Rodney who was eleven was next and Carmen was the last one to get spanked. She had just turned thirteen a few weeks before this event. So yes, it had to be especially embarrassing for her as a newly fledged teenager to turned her aunt's knee and have her bare bottom spanked in front of a mostly approving crowd. She probably put up the biggest fuss, crying and kicking as mom spanked her. I could have had more sympathy for her, had it not been for the fact she was indeed the ringleader. Unfortunately for the five of us, the story didn't end. We were told we were getting another spanking when we got home and once we got to my grandmother's house we were all made to strip from the waist down. My mother spanked my brother and me with a flyswatter and my aunt gave each of her kids ten licks with their father's belt.
I vaguely remember there was one more time after that, mom spanked my bare bottom in public, but at the moment, I don't remember where it was or what it was for.
But as far as bare bottom spankings in public go, I also at age eleven, did get a bare bottom spanking at school in the empty classroom from one of my teachers.
