Hi ! I just came across this forum and I am the father of a 6 year old boy and an 8 year old girl.
We live in South Africa and it must be said that our children are barefoot 90% of the time.
Here it is not uncommon for children to be barefoot and in fact this does not shock many people.
My son plays rugby and this sport is practiced barefoot here.
My daughter dances and is very often barefoot even though she wears socks at times.

Of course, their feet get dirty but we don't pay attention to it anymore.
For example, when my son finishes rugby training his soles will turn dark brown from the dirt.
My daughter after her dance class will tend to have dark gray soles because of the gym floor although sometimes her feet stay pretty clean.

We also go around town barefoot, to shops and restaurants. As I told you, this is a common practice and people are quite lenient about it.
On the other hand, the soles of their bare feet will turn a deep black because of the accumulation of city dust under their feet.
My son often has the dirtiest feet.

We are lucky here to benefit from a rather dry and temperate climate so it is rare to have cold days.
When this happens my daughter simply puts on a pair of socks to go out.
I remember once she wore pink socks.
However after going to town the bottom of the socks was completely black with dirt.
The print of his feet was correctly drawn under the sock. It was very funny.

Well, I don't care if their feet are dirty. In summer, it is not uncommon to see their feet black for several days. The most important thing is that it helps their proper development.
