Did Your Dad ever say "A good spanking never hurt anyone!"

I heard that growing up often! Perhaps "good" changes its meaning a bit! Did his admitting that it was a good one help you to settle down?

I grew up on several different blocks and in two towns. The pastors in my churches were transferred every two years of so but their replacements always were strong advocates of spanking. In their sermons I was never clear about whether they personally supported the peach tree switch or "strop oil" but they sure shared stories about how good the spankings they delivered were.
