It's like a solid oil. When it meets the heat of your body it melts a bit and glides right on, but doesn't leave a sheen of oil on your skin. Shea butter comes from the nut of a tree in Africa. It's wonderful stuff. Go read about it here: http://www.oilhut.com/shea.htm

Shea butter is notoriously expensive. At Walmart a 2oz jar of 100% pure shea butter sells for $6.49. It's much more reasonable on line - 16oz for $8.80 at thesage.com. Huge price difference, isn't it? A little goes a long way.
