But there are other cultures that use burning herbs in similar ways, just call it by different names. My husband is Native American so he prefers to burn sticks of dried herbs which he has bundled together “smudge sticks” he burns them primarily to clear an area of negativity (bad mojo as he calls it ;-)) When he’s on the road (he’s a guitar player) he sometimes burns herbs on stage before he performs. Sage is one of the best for removing negativity…I have a metal bowl that I prefer to use with a charcoal and then put the herbs on it (although I use smudge sticks too). I guess like with anything it’s what you feel comfortable with. I make my own incense…experiment a lot and yes as Diane eluded to have had the fire department visit due to bellowing smoke coming from my house…oops got a little carried away. LOL
