Is there such a thing as "Horse Rescue"? Maybe you could find out through an animal welfare organization (do you have SPCA?) of a place that matches up horses with children, therapy or farms..........
Even if the wicked aunt takes ALL the money, perhaps she would willingly let the horses go to new homes if it took no effort on her part.
That is so sad........obviously, she cherished these horses like most of us do our dogs and wanted them cared for.
What about this "Retirement Home for Horses" (where she wanted them to go) could you contact them and explain the situation? I realize they are probably not a "charity" for horses (they *are* expensive to keep) but it would seem they are a place that truly cares about and understands well-loved horses....perhaps they have run into this before and might have suggestions.
So sad.
