Do you recall in Diana Gabaldons book where the witch was playing around with gemstones? I also think I've read some stuff elsewhere as well - interesting.

Here's the story of the brooch, I think you'll see why I have never been able to feel good about it..

It belonged to an elderly Auny of Andrew's, in fact she was supposed to have been, asked to be, Andrew's Godmother - but wasn't. Instead she became Andrew's sisters Godmother and upon her death (in the UK) she sent the brooch out here to NZ for Andrew's sister. To cut a long story short they (her husband and her) decided to pawn it, we found out and were concerned that it was a family heirloom and the sale of it (should she ever find out) might upset Andrew's Mother. We borrowed some money (we were very broke at the time) and bought it.

At first I was happy with it but after a little I wasn't. There is more here - the SIL and I had a major falling out and have barely spoken for many years (that happened not too long prior to them selling the brooch). For a time after buying it they didn't know we'd bought it (they had someone sell it on behalf and we just happened to find out about it). Then, somehow, it came out and it turned out the salesamn had ripped them off and not disclosed the full sale price, thereby uping his commission considerably by pocketing the difference. Like a ninny I kindly handed over the receipts so that they could prove their case against him BUT not long after that (once she'd got over her gratitude and went back to actively disliking me) I started to get really bad vibes from the thing.

Andrew's Mother has passed on now (and she did eventually find out and didn't seem to care as much as we thought she might anyway), I think I should ditch the thing. It's not as though I have a daughter to pass it on to. What do you think, given its history is there a possibility that it is a negative thing to even have in the house?

PS - I showed it to someone who claimed to be clarivoyant (sp sorry) once and she said (without a word from me) that she got really negative vibes off it and asked me if it was, or had been, stolen at some time in its past that I knew of. The more I think on it the creepier it gets!
