to go with September of 1993 (or thereabouts) being the first time Mulder and Scully met is a remark made in "The X-Files Movie: Fight the Future". The movie came out in late June of 1998 and Mulder said at some point in it that he and Scully had been together "for five years". Early September of 1993 to late June of 1998 is a time span that most people would refer to as "five years". If they'd first met in March of '92, they would have known each other six years by time of the movie.
