...whistling a jaunty Librarian tune. One she picked up while in prison.

"La, Hmmm, La-ddeeda-da-DUM-dee-da-la, la, la, la, bowie knife." she sings, breaking into song but not quite sure of all the words. She has a spring in her step as she turns the corner and spies Scully kneeling on the curb next to a bleeding JD. There is no sign of KS but her list is scattered all over the sidewalk and street.

"Rabid," Scully snaps, "are you a doctor?"

"Uhm...No!" Rabid returns, looking oddly at Dr. Scully. She doesn't state the obvious however as she knows Scully's trigger happy tendencies, "Is somebody hurt?" she asks instead.

Scully gestures at the bleeding JD and begins to quote an obscure Robert Frost poem using that slow measured voice over tone. Rabid nods as if Scully is imparting some deeper wisdom and begins picking up the remains of KS's wish list.

"Help me," JD moans, holding out one hand.

Rabid eyes the armed and pacing Scully and shakes her head, "I'm sorry, JD, it's just too risky. Anyway...here comes Stardoe. See ya!"

Rabid starts to move away and Scully whips around pointing her gun.

"There's an injured man here," Scully growls, "And I am NOT going to let you sweep that under the carpet."

"Uhm...right!" Rabid nods, "No sweeping! No carpets!" the librarian salutes and barks, "The truth is out there!"

Scully gives a brisk nod, holsters her weapon and returns the salute, "Trust no one," She says.

"No one but you my little touchstone," Rabid completes the exchange kisses Scully's forehead in the proscribed manner and backs away, clutching KS's list in her arms.

KS and SD gallop up just as Rabid departs.

"Hey, what happened to my list," KS says looking around the now empty street. Scully whips out her Glock again but a quick thinking SD manages to sedate the underworked, over-caffinated agent and Scully is out for the rest of the episode.

Meanwhile, Rabid enters the Klub with KS's birthday wish list.

"So...I wanted to drop off my wishlist to you guys in case you were wondering what kind of gift to get me," she tells the gathered Shippervillians, "And I managed to dig up this old purple knitted hat that belonged to my Grandmother, may she rest in peace, for the KS collection. We don't have a lot of winter wear in Florida...but when Grandma moved here from New York in 1969 she brought this hat along and we have been passing it through the family. Sure...it's a bit hard to part with the sentimental memories (see this stain...that's from Uncle Sid's chewing tobacco, Grandma used to love to tell the story of how he mistook her hat for the spitoon one day). Anyway...I figure I can bear to part with it now because KS is almost like family."

She puts the stained, worn, dusty, smelly old mass of cable-knitted wool into the pile of winter wear then hands over her/KS's list to the startled Mayor and wanders away.

"You know," KM says looking after the Librarian, "That torture session seems to have left Rabid a little odder than usual."

Kande shrugs, "We just haven't seen too much of her lately. We should try to get reacquainted."

"I don't know," KM muses, "I think that she has been hanging out with the wrong crowd. Did you notice how pale she is?"

"Yeah," Kande says, "and hey, one of the items on this list of hers is a sunlamp."

She tears off the strip of paper.

"You are going to get Rabid a sunlamp?" KM asks in surprise.

"Oh, heck no," Kande says, picking up a pen from behind the bar she scrawls something across the paper and holds it up, "It's an I.O.U. for a sunlamp. Much cheaper than ACTUALLY buying a present. All of the joy of giving and none of the hassles at the mall."

"But what about when she tries to collect?"

"Do you know of anyone who has EVER successfully collected on an I.O.U.?"

KM thinks for a minute and acknowledges that she doesn't know of anyone who has. She smiles brightly and looks over the list, "Oooooh, I think I am going to get her this trip to Tahiti. I'm just generous that way."

KM rips off the page with the Tahiti trip on it borrows Kande's pen and rights "I.O.U. from Kenamom" on the paper. She folds the sheet slips it inside one of her handy all-occasion "FROM THE DESK OF THE MAYOR OF SHIPPERVILLE" cards and after sealing the envelope dusts off her hands.

"There now," KM sighs, "That's one item off my "to do" list. Now, do you know where I can get Elvis' phone number?"

"You mean the assumed dead but really singer who is actually Mulder's FATHER?"

"No," KM mutters distractedly, "I mean the figure skater!"

Rabid/Raeann
wondering if anyone caught my hit and run of JD on tape...like some mysterious stranger or something.
Also OT BUT...if anyone has seen Season 9 please answer my recently posted question on this board...THANKS!
