..."I'd like to add the fact that Phil languages/dialects are a part of the Malayo-Polynesian or Austronesian linguistic group"...
So what? the Malayo-Polynesian languages is a linguistic group also native to Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and Taiwan, all of which are ASIAN!!!
And by the way, the Philippines isn't the only catholic country in Asia… (by the way, I thought you said we weren’t Asian, so why say we’re the only Catholics in Asia?)
What about East Timor? All of them are Catholics, although Catholicism there was introduced by the Portuguese rather than the Spanish. And like Filipinos, East Timorese also have names and oftentimes surnames from their colonial masters, though their’s are Portugues not Spanish. And they are all also pure Austro-Polynesian-speaking Malays, just like us.
But unlike us, they don't have this crappy IMSCF complex or colonial mentality and they claim they don’t to be part Portuguese., nor do they don’t habitually go around proclaiming “such and such looks part European in my family”; “my dad ‘looks’ a bit mestizo”, etc.. I mean, what the f*** is that all about! How does one look “a bit” mestizo??? That means you look Malay!!!
And by the way, when a Pinoy says “so and so” in his ancestry “looked” so and so, take it with a grain of salt, because our sense of judgement is sooooo biased, we are capable of "seeing" European features even where there are non. This way we can attribute some of that invented "uniqueness" to ourselves without feeling guilt of feeling like the sellouts to our own race that many of us are.
It just makes me sick we are like this, even when almost no East Timorese can probably claim to have at least some Portuguese blood, they’d still have more able to get away with claim so than we can, that’s for sure. But you still don’t see East Timorese people claiming so. That Xanana Gusmao guy president of East Timor looks southern European to me, and he doesn’t even claim to be Portuguese, he doesn’t claim to be mixed Portuguese and East Timorese either, he claims to be 100% pure East Timorese. And he speaks Portuguese!!! How many of us can speak Spanish? Not even a tenth of the 2% of Pinoys that are actually part Spanish can still speak it.
But if a person that looked like Xanana was a common sight in the Philippines, even someone that looked a quarter European as he does, I can assure you that that a Pinoy not only would he say they wasn’t Pinoy, not only would he say that he wasn’t half pinoy and half Spanish, not only would he say that he wasn’t just a Filipino-born Spaniard, but he’d say we he was half Spanish and half another European nationality; then to top it off he’d blame the brown skin on the Spanish side, which is ridiculous anyway. Spaniards are olive-skinned, not brown. Mexicans get their skin not from the Spanish side, but from the Aztec side. But when it comes to us, apparently we’re dark brown because of the Spanish side. The stupidity of it all makes me laugh actually.
