Fair Winds and Following Seas to JAG! We shall miss you!

Welcome! This MB was created for fans of the Donald Bellisario Production's JAG's Lt. Colonel Sarah Mackenzie. This is to be a PG, Family Friendly board, and will not tolerate any explicit language or innuendos regarding the actress who plays Lt. Colonel Sarah Mackenzie, or the character herself.   • I'm so sorry Jubellant, but I can't contribute anything from this ep! This ep really sticks in my craw, for there is no way Buxton should've been not convicted. Mac presents a solid case, but once again Harm does his little speech, gets Buxton off, then gets to be the "hero" in having Buxton grounded. It just really irked me, & made me realize that no matter what, Mac would never win, no matter what the case. So sorry, I don't have anything to offer!       • Sorry p have to disagree with you. If Buxton had followed protocol he would have learned that the Yugo's were in the area. Pilots have to have impeccable vision and he probably would have noticed the flag. By his own admission he was itching for a fight, boasted that they would see and stated they looked close enough. Even Harm said he did what he had to and declined to defend the guy further. Buxton's life was not in any danger and the Russians had let command know that they would be in the area.         • I am not disagreeing with you, I was only offering why Harm was able to win the case. It's easy to sit on the sidelines and judge. Realize that Mac is a very skill ligator.           • Harm was grasping at straws to appeal to the jury. Because of Buxton's zealousness for some action, he failed to take the steps necessary to avoid making a deadly mistake. Safeguards are there for a reason. Imagine being killed because you looked close enough to a suspect because you were the same height and had the same hair color. What Harm's argument did was put the whole thing in a context of what if rather than what it was. Buxton would not have been prosecuted for failing to act if he followed the protocol that was set up to safeguard mishaps like these. Buxton's close enough comment was enough for me not to give him the benefit of the doubt that his motives were altruistic. Interesting points p but we'll just have to disagree on this one. We first learn of Mac's promotion in the episode 'King of the Greenie Board' when Harriet says "Oh Colonel, congratulations on your promotion....I'm sorry I missed your wetting down, but AJ had the croup!" (I guess we all had the croup as well as we all missed the wetting down too!!!). In the cont.'d episode entitled 'Rules of Engagement' Mac gets off the COD and says to Harm "Hi stranger it's good to see you!" Harm replies "You too." They hug and go inside the carrier and Harm says "So how's your trip?" As he turns to face Mac she is shrugging off her vest and he notices her ensignia and says "Lieutenant Colonel, Ma'am", (as he snaps to attention). • This week's Rules of Engagement had such great potential. Mac was promoted, gave spectacular arguments as prosecutor and IMO nailed Buxton's butt to the wall. It was bad enough witnessing victory being snatched from her due to a questionable defense tactic but to then have Buxton be exiled anyways was a slap in the face. Everyone knew this guy was guilty and deserved to be punished, but heaven forbid that the discipline be handed out due to Mac's brilliant prosecution. I hated that Mac didn't get the public credit for either her promotion or her prosecution of Buxton. Her promotion was behind closed doors and Buxton got deep sixed outside of the court venue. She prosecuted this case beautifully and won hands down. It was absolutely Deplorable.   • I believe they are going to coincide the release of Army Wives S1 around the same time that S2 will air, probably May-June of this year.   She looked a little different, her face seemed to be fuller, more round. Sort of reminded me of my niece with her haircut. Though she is only 5'3" where as CB is 5'9".
  
  It was a good movie to watch, quite entertaining. Unfortunately like any movie that is put on TV in a two hour slot with commercials, it was too short.
  
  The movie comes to an end too soon without really dealing with the major issue, Mrs Mayor and her affliction.
  
  It was worth watching. I'm sure it will be on again some time in the near future. Aren't most of cable's movies.

  I always noticed her smiles, the funny thing she does with her mouth when she's trying to be cute.
  
  I always noticed her beautiful eyes and the way she looks at Harm.
  
  I always know how she's feeling since she expresses her different emotions so well.
  
  I always noticed every year she had a new hair style, sometimes as many as three.
  
  but one thing I never noticed before as she and Harm talk about theor last 12 hours together.
  
  She has a very small and adorable nose as seen from the side profile.
  
  She looked so cute as she talked about "what do you propose?"
  
  It's one of the few times in nine years and over 200 episodes one can see her Persian beauty.

  • My thoughts on Second Sight have always been that at the end of Jag when DJE wanted out for what ever reason, why they did not let Catherine carry the show and continue with more seasons.?. The few Mac heavy episodes, this one, Persian Gulf, 4% Solution, and Stalker are some of the best episodes.     • Actually CBS was giving DPB a chance at renewal with CB as the head honcho (not that she wasn't a head honcho for nine years on Jag, because for the majority CB was the reason they watched for 9 years. Also CB would have been terrific as the boss of Jag San Diego and no matter what people may presume they never would have gone there with Mac and Vukovic, they both would have been in Levenworth. I would have loved to see Mac with a new love interest when the show continued. I just wanted her to be happy because like many CB/Mac was the reason I watched the show. This is a marvelous show that depicts the lives of "Army Wives or Spouses" in a way that is highly acclaimed and highly regarded by critics, fans and the military. I don't see anything on Lifetime that showcases men abusing women and that men are no good. The Army, and real Army wives have given the show "Army Wives" there seal of approval and it's very evident in the ratings.   Saw the Christmas episode of season five where Jenny Lakes meets Harm Sr.
  
  Hard to say I ever saw Catherine looking more beautiful.
  
  Some mentioned below that they hadn't realizred that Catherine does her own singing, where you can tell is when Catherine hits the low notes, her voice deepens to Mac mode.
  
  With the Season five DVD's out one can listen to her sing over and over.

  • i remember earlier discussion of Catherine's stage voice for Mac. For years I thought of CB as mac. I was very surprised when i I realized that her speeking voice is different. She has a higher voice, giggles and laughs a lot and really is not Mac.. I think SSV was when i I noticed this. Kind of silly but i always just thought of Catherine as mac. it was interesting in the TGW videos to hear her talk about Cassie's personality as bing closer to her's then other parts she has played.   • I don't know....I think at various points throughout the seasons they both in love with each other, but then at times they tried to convince themselves that they weren't, as evidenced by them moving on to others & by the fact neither really voiced that to the other, especially when point blank asked. I think the love grew deeper through the years, but for me I think after the whole Mic fiasco they both realized they were in love with the other.   I think its very moving and masterful. Ive seen many commercials of many branches and my favorite would be the Army but nothing beats the Marines and once again they did it. Ofcourse it makes me think proudly of our very own favorite Marine,Mac.

  There were so many times when TIIC could have put Harm and Mac together, especially since they not only put Bud and Harriet together, but they got married and had kids.
  
  I thought that it was a sure sign that JAG wouldn't be about a bunch of single people who put their career before getting married and having a family.
  
  One might expect it when people begin their military careers, but not after ten years or so. TIIC could have shown that the military was more than fighting wars, that you could have a family too.
  
  But instead we ended up with a lot of what appeared to be good looking people in their thirties whodidn't know the first thing about loving someone.
  
  AJ: got married when he was young. Went to VietNam. divorce. even though over eight years he had a few women, they either died, didn't trust him, or cheated on him.
  none of them listen to him in the long run.
  
  Tiner: good looking senior petty officer. Should be able to attract women. All he got was Gunny. Would have been nice to see him and Jennifer go at it. They had some chemistry.
  
  Gunny: forty and single when he arrived, had beautiful sisters, many sisters, but didn't know how to related with women?
  
  Jennifer: had to be close to thirty. very beautiful, why didn't she have someone.
  
  Sturgis: preacher's son, nearing forty, would seem to be ideal mate for some nice young lady.
  
  Imes was beautiful too, why was she single in her mid thirties?
  
  Then we had Harm and Mac. Two people eho seem to have an instant connection, who knew the other better than they knew themselves. there seemed to be a few times when we would see them together.
  
  The first time was when they went to Russia to look for his father. Why did she go? Becauses she loved him. How could he not love someone who was so beautiful and would travel to the end of the world for him to make sure he was safe?
  
  TIIC said it was too early for them to be together. Why? after two years the chemistry was there. It was the chemistry between them that drove the show and made it special.
  
  Instead we have a husband show up? I'm sure it was originally intended to be an ex husband as many here have said, Mac is too inelligent not to have gotten a divorce.
  
  It wasn't in her records, so it must be assume that she took care of it before she went into the marines after college and before Chris got out of prison.
  
  another ideal time would have been before the end of season four before Harm left to fly. It would have been the perfect time, especially after the five year baby deal.
  
  Then of course there was the after the crash and goodbye Bugme. There was nothing keeping them apart except TIIC.
  
  It seemed like they were somewhat together when they were in Afghanistan through the Christmas at Tiny Tim's house. He was late getting a trip home. Made the Toys for Tots run.
  
  Mac was waiting for him like any woman in love. She noticed his wings were missing.
  
  He went to rescue her in Paraguay. They had such a nice scene when he tells her he had forgotten how beautiful she was.
  
  Webb should never had happen. Slick Vic shouldn't happen. we should had have at least half the last season of Harm and Mac together. A Naval Academy Wedding.
  
  And finally when did Mac and Trish meet. I think it was Season two when they went to Miramar to invesigate the mishap. Mac met Annie, why wouldn't she have met Momma.
  
  They weren't that far from La Jolla. Harm would have seen her.
  
  We do know by season three when Harm visits his mom before seeing the Russian that Momma has seen Mac.
  
  First she asks about Annie. Not together anymore.
  
  Then she asks about Mac. She's quite the girl. causing Harm to blush.

    • The show would have been better. Having Harm and Mac wouldn't have changed the content of the show. The show was successful because of Harm and Mac's chemistry as single people. Think how far that chemistry could have gone if they were married. One thing though, if they had dated the shows like they did in the beginning, maybe 1 season could have been several months instead of 1 year. So in the end Harm and Mac together for 9 seasons could have been 3 years, more realistic for the personal growth.   I was thinking today since I have some free time on my hands (29 degrees here in Atlanta) I have really enjoyed talking about those powerhouse Mac episodes, not that all of them aren't great just some stand out more than others.We discussed the four percent solution, and Second Sight I was thinking since we are kind of out of order now anyway and it is a long time till we get to this episode if we go in order, what do you all think about tackling "Persian Gulf"? Think this would be ok???
  
  In fact I was thinking why don't we start with PG and if you have any Mac favorites that we have not talked about yet why don't you shout them out here and we can decide as a board if we want to skip around some or continue to go in order when Jubellant returns.
