Subject: Let’s give the adults the dignity they deserve. All adult-specific competitions needs to be dropped and age groups need to be expanded.

CLRG should standardize ALL dancers under a single set of grade and championship levels and have age groups that reflect ALL dancers. There should be a single progression as follows: beginner, advanced beginner, novice, prizewinner, preliminary championship, and open championship. Those are the only categories available to every dancer who wishes to compete.

The same goes for regional competitions, national competitions, all-Irelands, and worlds. Single-age age groups up to under 20, then under 25, under 30, under 40, and 40 and over.

This would standardize competitions worldwide and give EVERY dancer the opportunity to qualify for the highest level of competition. The expanded age groups would help alleviate stylistic differences between adult dancers who started as children and those who started as adults. Age groups are the only equalizer you need.

The solution of having adults and advanced adults doesn’t solve anything. Not only does it block dancers from having the opportunity to qualify for worlds, it also forces dancers who are decades in age apart to compete against each other.
