Subject: My 20 cents
In reply to: Macha 's message, "Hmm..." on 17:45:55 09/27/02 Fri

Oooh! Look at me, I'm talking again! Hey Macha, see if you can guess who my character is! ::jumps around:: Anyways, I noticed the question about Wicca, and I want to put my 20 cents in before you make a final choice. (Time to play Devils' Advocate!) I would just like to say that Wicca did not originate in ancient Scotland. It's actually a very recent religion-(trust me, I've studied for over two years)-it was started by Gerald Gardner in 1930. It's a religion that's completely eclectic, and takes from a bit of everything, Christianity, Shamanism, Paganism, Witchcraft... etc. I will highly discourage using Wicca in this game for a couple of reasons.

A) It is a religion. Point blank, I think it's all right to incorporate it into a singular character, but putting it as an overall theme for the game is not terrifically wise. People won't understand it, some might take offense, some will think of it as a stupid plot. For example, I play Lunatha (An'Kor-Elemental Mage) and she uses a lot of their magic uses. I think that's all right, but as a religion, I discourage.
B) Once again, Wicca is a religion, with a Lord and Lady, with Magic; the whole shibang. When it comes right down to it, I think that Shamans are as far as you should go when it comes to Magic in this game. Clair, ask to become a Shaman, but putting religion into a character? I don't know, it could take away from the game. Remember, Morrigan's Wrath is a violet game. It was originally called the Clan Wars-(I helped Morgan plan this all out)-and Wicca is a peace loving religion. It won't have any place in the game.

I know I sound rude, but I know my stuff when it comes to religion. Be it Egyptian, Sumerian, Christianity, Buddhism, or Wicca, I know what I'm talking about. Therefore, I discourage the use of Wicca in this game. (oooh... I think my teacher would be pleased with this.)
