Thea sighed.
"Wait, Leica," she called. Her younger cousin turned around. Though Thea had decided to try to keep a straight face this time, the look of utter exasperation Leica gave her made her break out in a broad grin. She looked down quickly, cleared her throat, and went on.
"It'll only be for a little while, okay?" Thea was suddenly serious. "I have to settle a few things in town." She grinned. "Then I'll just be on my way. Oh don't look so happy!" Leica was still frowning at the other girl. "And guess what? I made dinner! It's your favorite- steamed squid!"
At this her cousin abruptly turned and left.
Thea laughed to herself. Leica hated steamed squid, she knew. But were her new decorations so bad? All the room had needed was a little bit less color, a little more black tones, and those pictures that had been on the wall weren't all that great in the first place. Thea rather adored the large, twisted metal plaques and hangings that she had put in their places. But she didn't like to make her cousin upset, so she drudgingly set about fixing things back the way they had been.
As she worked, her mind wandered. She wasn't in Cala Armon by choice, though she never thought twice about her work. Being a necromantic assassin had definate advantages. She had many hard choices ahead of her. Oh well, she would think of these things later. Done with the decorations, she walked into the kitchen to eat some steamed squid.
