Chapter 12: Surfacing

Talib: "Hey, ya know, I've never been to your house before..." they stepped through Terina's front door. He put his arm around her waist and gave her a kiss.
Terina smiled: "That's because you never did THAT before, this is pretty unbelievable, isn't it? Within 24 hours, we've turned from enemies to lovers."
Talib: "Well, then we better not waste any more time..." he taking her hand and leading her up the stairs.
Terina: "Talib... you are such a guy!"
Talib shrugged and gave her an innocent look. They both collapsed in the middle of the staircase in a fit of giggles. When Terina's giggling subsided, she saw Talib look at her with an intense gaze and a heartbeat later, his mouth crushed her's. Their passion was interrupted by Talib's cell phone ringing. He broke their kiss, sighed and gave her an apologetic look. He took out the ringing phone from his jacket pocket, hit the power button to turn it off and tossed it aside.

Jiz: "Hm. Weird," he hung up the phone.
Liz curiously: "What?"
Jiz: "It rang, and then cut off..."
Liz: "That IS strange... it's like he didn't..." and Jiz looked at her.
Jiz finished: "... want to be bothered..."
"Bothered by what?" came a voice behind them. Clara and Jarell walked into the den where Jiz and Liz were.
Jiz : "Oh, uh, nothing really... we were just..."
Jarell pointed out: "C'mon, you were never good at lying,"
Jiz and Liz exchanged looks and finally jiz said: "Okay, well, we believe there is someone else in Talib's life. BUT you can't say anything to anyone about this..."
Clara: "Wow... really? Does Meg know?"
Liz: "We don't think so but she was here earlier looking for him"
Jiz added: "And she was pretty mad when she left here last night"
Clara repeated and looking at Jarell: "Wow..."
Jarell: "So, how does that relate to being bothered?" bringing the topic back to the surface.
Jiz explained: "Oh! Right, so we called his cell phone to tell him Meg was looking for him and the phone rang for a while. And then clicked off. No voice mail. Nothing."
Liz: "So we said it seemed that he was... busy... and didn't want to be bothered"
Jarell : "Do you know who the other girl is?"
Jiz looked at Liz first: "Believe us, you'll never guess..."

Nelly was over at Keisha's place and the two of them were lounging on the couch, watching T.V. when they heard the front door slam shut.
Keisha, who had been lying down, sat straight up.
Keisha called: "Meg...?"
"Yeah" came an angry voice.
Keisha: "C'mere hun... what happened?" she sat up to make room for Meg and Meg spilled everything that had happened so far in the day, from seeing Talib and Terina at the mall to seeing them drive by together when she was leaving his house.
Nelly: "What?! Are you sure? This is Talib and Terina we're talking about..."

Meg sniffed: "I know..." Keisha handed her a tissue.

Nique and Lami got home after wasting some more time at the mall. They headed upstairs and as they passed Talib's room, he realized that Talib hadn't even been back yet. Lami turned to Nique and raised an eyebrow.
Lami: "He's... not home yet...?"
Nique shook her head: "They're going to get caught... eventually more people will catch on and then they're both screwed... at least the others don't know yet..."
