I use a 12 inch dye aluminum. It does have the ridge, and it does seem to break paint more than my stock barrel did. It also doesn't shoot through breaks very well. The porting is do tiny that paint gets clogged in the porting and won't come out until you clean the barrel by dumping water through the porting. I don't know if that affects the performance or not. Other wise, its a good barrel, it fits well and looks good. It is also made of thick tubing, so it won't bend when you accidentally fall on it or punch it up against a rock.
