• I'm inclined to agree with your view. I think he was sold a dream by the people at Birmingham City, and it looks like it has worked. Look at the crowds they are getting. I think Stansfield thrives on the adolation. He got that to the lesser extent at Exeter City. He obviously didn't think that would happen at Fulham for sometime. More than 16m total guaranteed earnings at a club that loves him, is being bankrolled for a quick push up the leagues and is the main club in England's 2nd city.     • I am absolutely saying that his personal history likely makes him predisposed to that kind of security for him (and probably his family) in a way that might sway an otherwise self-believing young football from dropping down so far. I believe that, allied to a gamble that Birmingham will, in two years, give him what he'd hope to achieve at Fulham in that timeframe - a Premier League starting spot - made it an easy choice for him.       • When a parent dies young through ill health, it's inevitable one might think that might be your own destiny. If that's so, then that can be a driver for wanting to do more sooner, rather than later. He hasn't got kids, so why would wealth be the primary driver?         • As someone who lost one parent in my early twenties, and the other in my thirties, i can absolutely assure you that it's not inevitable that you think like that. Everyone reacts to that kind of thing completely differently. For 10 years i had an overwhelming sense of wanting to do things/do them in a certain way that my mother would have been proud of me.
