I won't be at the first night either.

As for the rest of the season, there's anough there to convince me a season ticket is in order. Nothing outrageous and big, but some good bits here and there. One or two surprises (Weill's Royal Palace???), and many of the usual suspects, but I must admit to more optimism that at this time last year.

I had a horrible feeling that the Chicago were going to do a Mahler two-nighter. I'm afraid memories of the Czech M1 and the EUYO M7 in recent times, combined with a rememberance of the CSO's M5 in their last visit, may prompt me to go AWOL.

On the up-beat, as 'twere, there's even a few late-nighters of which I like the cut, so this may be the first year I stay late. There are even, dare I say, some new works which tempt me.

At least the Last Night looks entertaining. It may be too blatant for most, but I love the insertion of the 'Liberty Bell' march just before the traditional jingoism. Should be quite a laugh.

See you for the Handel, perhaps?
