It has been 21 years this January since my house was last blessed. After talking to a few people who belong to my church they told me that the priest still blesses houses on January 6, and after upon request.
This afternoon I called the rectory and spoke with the secretary. She told me that our priest is not blessing any homes this year at all!!! He will not be doing it anymore now, or in the future. I was stunned !
Since, I know the secretary I begged her to please get Father to come and bless my house. She said she will try and convince him and let me know on Friday. I never thought in all my years I would have to beg a priest to come and bless my home. Sure, I have holy water here and can do it myself. I feel it should be done by a priest.
If you are wondering why I am upset and so very adamant on having my home blessed by a priest. I live in a home that will be 96 years old. My mom who has dementia sometimes see's people in our house. I used to always laugh about it and tell her to tell them to leave and go home where they belong. I'm not laughing anymore and am a bit scared. This past Christmas Eve in the afternoon while I was alone in the kitchen something happened. I have tried over and over again to duplicate what happened and I cannot. It has me a little more than scared.

With my mom dementia really in the stage of Alzheimers, only 2 % of the people hallucinate.
Nothing bad has happened in our home. I don't want to take any chances. I don't like any unexplained thing to happen. It scares me. I don't know how to put it into words but for me my home is for the living, not for anyone not living on this earth anymore. I don't want any dead relatives dropping by for a visit either not even my dad.They need to go where the dead go and stay there!!!!
A few days before this happened I had a dream about my dad. I asked him if he saw God. He said no he didn't see him. Maybe, it was my dad. I haven't had a Mass said in the past two years for him. Maybe that is what he needs.
Around 2pm on Christmas Eve. My mom was upstairs taking a nap. I was sitting in the kitchen reading the newspaper. My back was facing the sink. On the counter next to the sink I had the radio on as I was also listening to Christmas Carols. The radio stopped playing. All I thought was the station had a problem they would be back on in a minute. After a few minutes and nothing. I decided to get up and change the station. When I walked over to the radio it was unplugged. Not only was it unplugged it was coiled up three times very neatly with the prongs facing me and the chord was in front of the radio.
My mom had not come into the kitchen she was still upstairs sleeping. At first I thought the chord just fell out of the socket. But the outlet it was plugged into has a switch for the disposal on top underneath is the outlet. When you plug something in it is in tight. The radio will also not play if it is not in tight. I have tried to coil the chord just like it was and I can't. Infact, each time I've tried the chord just falls.
When I was around 12 yrs old my best friend was sleeping over and she slept over many times. But one night she woke up and she saw a lady standing by the bed. She would never sleep in the room again. We never figured out who it was. The room is now my computer room as a child I never liked sleeping in this room. A few days after I turned 21 yrs old. I was sleeping and I was awakened by a voice that called my name. It was around 11am, my parents were at work. I was home from college on Christmas vacation. The next thing I new I felt someone over me it felt evil and male. I couldn't move I just started praying in my head. When I was able to move I called my mom at work and she said I had a bad dream. But she told me that when I was a baby I would wake a screaming it was as if someone was trying to hurt me. A priest came and did a special blessing of the room. When I was one or two yrs old about three times I saw a man standing in the room. It wasn't until many years later when I saw a photo of my mom's dad it was he that I saw standing in the room. He never even lived in this house. Due to a head injury in the mines he went crazy. Before he shot himself he tried to shoot his wife and the younger children who were at home. Maybe, this confused crazed man tried to come back and hurt me. I don't know. We had the priest come and bless the room but he also said I was dreaming made me feel like a jerk.
In this room every so often the light will keep blinking. I had new wiring put in throught the entire house. Had three electricians check it. There is no short they can't find anything wrong. It is only in this room that the light blinks.
I just feel that it is time for a house blessing again. If my priest will not come I'll have to find another one. It will not be easy because they are so busy. As a last resort,if my priest refuses I will contact the archbishop emertis, who helped make it possible for me to meet the pope. Maybe, he'll make the priest come.
Sorry, I didn't mean to go on and on. Barb,thanks so much for caring. You're such a wonderful person.
I'm off to brave the frigid temps, I hope the car starts.

I should not have mentioned the car.Went out to warm it up and the battery was dead. It's a good thing it happened in front of my house instead of when I was suppose to be out and about today. It's just too cold out there...Brrrr, to get stranded. At this very moment my car is at the garage.
Other good news, the priests secretary called me and Father Mark will bless my home on Wednesday. Infact, she told me that two other people wanted their homes blessed, so he has to bless one home in the morning and I'll be the second in the afternoon. I also requested a Mass said for my dad for this month.
At least that turned out well. It makes me feel better!

Everything sounds most upsetting and unsettling. I hope you get resolution soon. It must drive you crazy. I am glad the Priest is coming to bless your house and I hope it works. I wish you peace.

I'm thrilled the priest is coming too! He is a very nice person ,and it is easy to have a conversation with him. Some priests can be so intimidating. Things are not like they used to be when I was younger. You could call a priest for anything and they were always there for you. Not today, you can only call the office during business hours 9-4, etc.....
As for my house things don't happen every minute or everyday. Just every once in a long while. But,I wouldn't want to live here alone. After my dad died I wanted to move but we didn't own the house outright. 2/3 was owned by my cousin. I had to buy him out, really my mom did. My dad left his share of the house and former family business to my mom. She refused to sell or move. It will be two years that I own the house now. But, the doctor advised me of not moving my mom. They get very confused living in a different surrounding. Plus, I can't pay a mortgage with all the college loans I still have to pay off.
As for my mom when she see's people. It is not all the time or everyday. It doesn't scare her. She sits there waving to them and sometimes even talking to them. It can be comical at times.

to be able to take sightings so casually. It's just as well. I would be like you. I had one experience about a year after my mom died that gives me chills to this day, but it was fleeting and only happened the once...and my house isn't haunted. Do you think you will sell the house one day?

I'ld probably will sell one day. It will be difficult. I've lived here all my life. My great grandfather had it built. In four years it will be in the family 100 years.
Except for the experience this Christmas Eve. I haven't had an experience here in 21 years. Yes, the light blinks sometimes in my computer room . I've learned to ignore it.
The more I think about what happened in the afternoon on Christmas Eve, the more I think it was my dad. A few days before I had a dream about him. I haven't had a dream about him in nine years. That afternoon it was 13 years ago that my dad found out he had cancer. It was in the afternoon all those years ago on Christmas Eve. Right after I had the experience I remember thinking "dad"?
In my dream my dad stated he hasn't seen God, and that he doesn't know where he is. My goodness he's been dead 12 years. You think he'd be in heaven ,or with God by now. I hope the Mass that will be said in a week in a half will help him.
If it was not my dad, I hope the house blessing sends that person away. Sure, I can get a medium in, but to be honest if I found out that someone is here I'ld be pitching a tent in the yard. I would really be afraid,would not want to be in here.
I must admit I don't know how some people who really have a problem can live in a home that is haunted. I know in England that most of the houses are haunted. It is amazing how it doesn't bother the majority of people living in those houses.
As for my mom I feel the majority of the people she sees and I sure hope it's the majority are just images of people from her brain cells misfiring or dying from the alzheimers. In the kitchen she was always seeing a woman, and sometimes two men. Hasn't seen them in a while. But, a few times I got annoyed and told her to tell them to go where they belong get out of our kitchen. She had two brothers who lived here in this house. They didn't die here. Both died in their late 30's of massive heart attacks.
I'm already for the priest. Cleaned the entire house. They only bless downstairs. He agreed to also do the upstairs. I've already put out the blessed candles, crucifix, and Holy Water in the living room for him. It already has given me a peaceful feeling knowing that he is coming.
I didn't mean to ramble. It just helps to talk about it.
