Why does the Catholic church not "believe" in fortune tellers?

I believe "in" them. I see them all the time. ;)
Should be we believe "on" their words? Please tell me why the CC says no.

When my parents married in 1939, they went to the New York World's Fair for their honeymoon. While there my mother convinced my father to go and see a fortune teller that was on the grounds, just for the fun of it. She told my mother that she would die suddenly at the age of 57. Of course my parents laughed it off, however, my mom did suddenly die at the age of 57, in 1975. A fulfilled prophecy perhaps?

I was stunned when I read about your mom! I do believe that some fortune tellers can predict the future; that they have special psychic abilities. But,I also believe that the majority are frauds.

I didn't find out about what the fortune teller told my parents about my mom, until after her death. It was something never spoken of, probably long tucked away. My dad told his children about it afterwards, probably shaken up a little by the memory of it.
