Hi! My kids now have a couple years of experience and are totally used to walking barefoot, it's their daily habit and they won't put anything on their feet unless they absolutely have to, which is usually when it gets freezing cold or nearly so. With their wonderful circulation that doesn't happen most of the year. So, no more shoes until november or so. They put all their footwear away in the basement. Less to worry about for all of us!
Yes they now take public transport on their own too, no problem doing that barefoot.
Sometimes we go to special places and events, to parties and festivities, concerts and theater. That's when us adults love to show off our elegant shoes while our children earn norhing but smiles and compliments, looking so cute and adorable with their bare feet peeking out under beautiful dresses and pants, combined with some irresistible smiles ...
They never complain about being tired or getting sore feet, and when I occasionally check their soles, their tough leather pads might be black with dirt but never seem to get injured. We stopped worrying about that ...
