Thanks; that makes perfect sense. Not a maintenance spanking, but a suitably high bar of expectation for good school performance and behavior.
I’m sure that knowing they are subject to the belt helps them remember to behave well, and then when it is given, they will remember it for the upcoming week.
Do their teachers know that you reinforce behavior and performance expectations with the belt? If they do, I can imagine a teacher making reference to that if/when a warning is given in school.
