What a wonderful idea for a forum. My husband and I are devout Baptists and live in Florida with our three children, Sarah (11), Lisbeth (10), and Christopher (8), who attend a small K-8 school connected to our church. While we use various methods of discipline, we are most definitely a spanking family. Some offenses can initially be dealt with by a stern talking-to and grounding, though we will spank if the behavior does not cease. And then there are some offenses--treating a parent, teacher, or elder with disrespect; any sort of lying whatsoever; and behavior that puts them or others at risk--that are immediately addressed via a spanking. We always spank over the lap on the bare bottom. Around or when Sarah turns 12--when she begins to start puberty in earnest--I will handle all her spankings, but at this point my husband and I share the duties for all three. Happy to share more--in fact, when I get a chance, I will tell about the last spanking I administered (to Lisbeth, around two weeks ago).
