~*~*The next memory began right where the other had left off- in the dark, with Treyvan. He slowly emerged into what appeared to be an early morning in Aderes. This was not where Kioku had perished- this seemed more recent, as the landscape was mostly familiar. Specifically looking, it seemed like the Winter Moon between the time when the real ice had melted and crystal spells put up in its place. Children were already out and playing, though none of them really seemed to be paying attention to Treyvan. A small group of children wandered very close, chasing their lost ball. They stopped suddenly when it hit Treyvan’s feet, and looked up at him…. With hauntingly familiar eyes. There were four of them.*~*~
~*~*They were 5 and 6, at the most. The first was a small boy with white hair, slightly pointed ears, and long white wings. Saharian/Elf half-breed. Massive blue eyes stared back at you blankly, before a brief flash hit you of the moment in YOUR memory when Treyvan had killed the older version of this child. Naoki then- when he was still known as Fire Song. The child beside him was nearly identical, minus the wings. His hair also had a slight blue tinting to it, and his eyes were more of a greenish-blue color. Another of your memories- one of Arafin in Morwin.*~*~
~*~*The third child had light brown hair, and deep brown eyes. He seemed to be the youngest of the group, and was Half-Elf in origin. A brief flash came to you from Ashavar- of this boy trying to wield a sword against you with a black gem around his throat. Faeren, then. The last of the children was a little girl, with the largest set of green eyes you had ever seen. She was purely a human, and so not related to the others. Her hair was a deep green in color, and she wore a small silver bracelet on her wrist- with a green gem placed upon it. Avalon, you knew her right away. You had not known that these four had ever lived together- they had certainly never said anything about it. You knew that Faeren and Naoki had both grown up here, but that Naoki had gone to Ashavar. Arafin, you thought, had been born in Morwin. And Avalon, you had never really thought about her before. They all stood before Treyvan now, wearing identical blue school uniforms.*~*~
~*~*Treyvan stared at them for a short time before bending down and handing their ball back, with a smile on his face. They gladly took it, having apparently not taken any notice of his eyes. Rather than following the same flow, the memory shifted- somewhat violently –to another time period.*~*~
~*~*It had elected to follow Avalon. It had actually gone backwards, to earlier that week when Avalon had started school. She was sitting in what appeared to be the principals office, with a conversation going on between the tall, lanky principal- and two Saharians who could not possibly have been her parents.*~*~
Principal- What did you say her name was?
Woman- Avalon, sir. Her name is Avalon.
Man- Are you sure that you can take her here?
Principal- Normally, no- but under the circumstances, it seems like a good idea to keep her here. It is what her parents would have wanted… Did they learn anything more about the accident?
Man- Nothing, sir. Just that they could not find the creature.
Principal- I understand. Is Avalon willing to wear the bracelet?
Woman- Yes, we have talked to her about that. She will wear it.
Principal- Good. It will keep the other students from questioning where she came from… People rarely come here from the Summer Moon.
Man- Are you SURE that they will not question the transfer?
Principal- I can not promise anything, but they respect that the bracelets protect her privacy. We have never had any incidents with them before.
Avalon- …I wanna go home…
~*~*The vision shifted to later that night, when the little girl was alone in her bed room. Most of her belongings were still in boxes. She was sitting on her bed with a small locket with a picture of her real parents in it, with nothing else but what appeared to be an elegantly carved wooden staff. The inscription in it read the following: ‘To my darling Daughter on her fourth birthday. May you always be happy. –Mom’*~*~
~*~*She was sitting there, looking at the locket with tears in her eyes before closing it slowly. She got up, and stood in the center of her spacious room. A few moments later, and what appeared to be a wingless dragon appeared in her room.*~*~
Avalon- Why? Why did you kill my family?
Creature- …I am sorry, mistress Avalon…
Avalon- No you aren’t!
~*~*the memory flashed to one of Avalon’s- watching the creature race out of a forest, and slay both of her parents and an older sibling with one wave of its large claws. Something happened there at which time Avalon screamed something out, condensing it to a ball of light. That was apparently how she had gotten her first Summon.*~*~
Avalon- ….why?!
Creature- …;
~*~*The memory shifted again, this time to Faeren- a month or two earlier. He was sitting in his home with what was apparently his father- a human. They were having breakfast.*~*~
Faeren- Daddy? Are you going to take me to school today?
Father- When did you start school?
Faeren- Last month, daddy…
Father- Oh. You can walk- it isn’t far.
Faeren- …Yes, daddy…
~*~*He slowly got up, and walked out the door. The vision followed him as it sped up, and by the time it slowed down again, it was mid-afternoon. The school was some two miles away from his home. He arrived at what appeared to be the lunch break, when he slowly walked through the door and headed for his class. Between the door and there, he had somehow gotten a group of older kids following him. It somehow did not surprise you when they surrounded him, and started taunting him It was not long after that they began pushing him into the walls and kicking him around- and he was, a short time later, rescued by his teacher. The memory warped to the end of the day when Faeren was about to begin the walk home. He ended up being taken via carriage by his teacher, who was slightly surprised to see that he had been locked out of his house. When Faeren returned to the carriage, she stared at him in silence.*~*~
Faeren- Daddy forgot about me again…
Teacher- What do you mean he forgot about you?!
Faeren- Daddy forgets about me sometimes, and locks the door.
Teacher- Where do you go when that happens?
Faeren- Nowhere. I sleep outside.
~*~*And with that, the teacher took him away. He was placed in a foster home the very next day, with the same people you had seen with Avalon- who was not yet there. The memory then shifted again to Naoki, perhaps a month earlier than Avalon’s memory.*~*~
~*~*He was, quite literally, living on the streets. His biological father, the Saharian half of him, was nowhere to be seen. You began to question the devotion of the mother that the brothers shared. Naoki was climbing out of a trashcan at the beginning of the memory. He looked around slowly, and then walked the two blocks to the school house. It was early in the morning, so the children were all just arriving. Rather than going to a classroom, he went to the top floor- where a special teacher was waiting for him. It seemed that his magical abilities had already been discovered, and so he was in training for those. A short time later, he had evidently gotten careless, and had been given a hit hard enough from his teacher to shatter the bone in his left arm. He was taken to the office, and a phone call made to his father. When nobody answered, they elected to take him home.*~*~
~*~*His home, they discovered, was non-existent. He was kept at the school that night, and the following day, a new couple came to claim him. The same couple, indeed, that the other two were staying with.*~*~
~*~*The memory shifted to a much earlier era, perhaps a year before, and began following Arafin. He was living with his human father and his step-mother- who were the same couple that had taken the other children in. There were other children there, as this was apparently a very large complex for children with no home. And, Arafin was probably the youngest child there. You could tell right away that his step-mother disliked him, and that his father was ashamed of him. Little did they know that he was going to inherit the Elf empire. He was viewed here as a ‘mistake’.*~*~
~*~*The vision progressed rappidly, to the time when all four children were in the house together. They had quickly formed a tight circle, without ever knowing that the boys were related. That left you to wonder about why Avalon had been included. The memories quickly halted, and you were returned to the white world between them. Your guardian smiled at you, keeping her eyes closed.*~*~
What are your thoughts? We have some time here, you might as well speak your mind.
