Over Christmas we went out to buy a fan for downstairs since the little one down there wasn't really up to the job and the guy (nice guy he was too) in the shop was telling us all about how much better and cooler his place had been since he got a DEhumidifier! LOL, Marlene we should really just be able to do a simple swap.... life would be so much easier that way!

Kris - that thing that your used to do I have done something similar when Daniel was young and had a chesty cough/cold, you do need to be really careful with this though, I would soak a towel in warm water with, perhaps, a little vicks (do you have that?) dissolved (nowadays I would use essential oils to suit) and place it over an oil heater (the type with the oil fully enclosed in thin, wide bars) with a drip sheet under it and leave it going on barely warm. It would help a LOT with that cough that little kids always wake up with at around 2am when the air suddenly gets really cold and dry. I've suggested it to other mums that have croupy children and they all say it has worked really well for them. It is just vital to check that the towel is not dried out (use a good thick one, folded over) and that the air vents on the heater don't get covered.
