Subject: Rob is walking Mac now isn't he?
In reply to: Margaret 's message, "forgot to say" on 14:46:03 02/09/02 Sat

Margaret's right, walking is going to be his friend. :) Him and Mac will be good for each other. :))

Lisa think pasta (like Margaret said) and potatos are not fattening in themselves (it's all the gook we apply to jazz them up). A baked potato (microwaves really fast) is filling and satisfying and endlessly versatile for stuffing low fat things into. Creamed corn is one - yummy!!!

Pastry? Does Rob like pastry? That's fine - just swap to using filo pastry where you might usually do short or puff pastry. One of the nicest things I make is a filo pastry roll - you lay out the filo, add a light layer of sour cream (use the low fat stuff here) and then add loads of finely sliced, mild flavoured white fleshed fish, heaps of spring (umm.. green?) onions, slices of mushroom, green peppers (capsicum) finely chopped garlic, herbs that seem like they would be nice (dill is lovely, fennel is nice, basil can make an interesting flavour - use your imagination and what you like), whatever other vegies you think might be good (even leave the fish out if you want totally vegeterian). Then starting at the short end you roll it all up like a sponge roll and bake it till it's cooked through and golden brown on the outside. :) It is really nice, hot, cold or room temperature!!! I love it!

Use a LOT of tomato puree in things for a real flavour boost that is satisfying - casseroles for example.

Green beans! Green beans are very good, low fat and help reduce blood sugar too. :) If Rob likes them (I love them fresh or canned but NOT frozen - phew, yucky! LOL) pile 'em on! :)

I'll come back to this if that's okay - I have some others to add and some stuff for Tina that will fit in here too. :)
