Subject: 3 of my favorite diet tips

Diane (and everyone else) gave you wonderful tips! Here are three things that were successful for me in the past.
Grapenuts cereal. I know it's not all that yummy - but you know how it is when you're on a diet, you're starving and you start with the healthy snacks suggested on most diets? And they are just not working? And you have a few more - still not working, so you give up and have what you are *really* craving?? Try a bowl of Grapenuts with a little sugar and non-fat milk - it doesn't taste like chocolate cookies going down...but it SATISFIES and stays in your tummy a long time so you can forget your cravings and get on with business. I like it in the evening when I have a craving for sweets (I also have trouble sleeping when I'm hungry and get the midnight munchies).
Another one I like is "I Cant's believe It's Not Butter" in the spray bottle. Instead of having toast slathered with butter (or margarine) and topped with jam...put some healthy jam on the dry toast and then spray a little of the margarine spray *on top* of the jam - it's gives you that mouth feel and taste of spread on your toast but is practically free from calories and fat.
Have you tried my "Smashed Potatoes" - really satisfying and with much less oil than you normally associate with topping for potatoes. Sort of a cross between french fries (or hash browns) and baked potatoes. They make a good potato accompaniment to a lean piece of meat, fish or poultry. Just ask if you need the recipe.
Poor Rob, he's got "a hard way to go"...trying to give up smoking as well as diet - the best thing he can do for himself is exercise and walking with you and the dogs will help him get in shape and dull the food and ciggie cravings more than anything else.
