Subject: I had to buy pots = $$$$$ !!!
In reply to: Dianeith 's message, "Marlenith?????" on 18:50:57 08/18/01 Sat

I thought I needed 8 - then I got them home and decided 6 would do, then I put two of them on stands and decided I *did* need 8 - so back I went and re-purchased two.
Now I need gravel and compost and I'm going to spring for some of those granules that are like gelatin - they expand and hold moisture. I try to remember the most important rule of gardening - put a $1 plant in a $10 hole if you want success.
As anxious as I am to run out and buy plants, I'm trying to get the pots and dirt right first.
But I think I've decided, for the 2 biggest pots to plant a Hopseed bush on each side of the arbor. Tall, narrow and purplish with Portulaca, sort of a succulent-ice-plant multi-colored bloomer around the base. Taking some advice from my other post and planting native and cactus (succulent). It gets *HOT* out there!
I think an orangish or salmon Geranium or Pelargonium with blue Ageratum around the front. White Daisy Marguerite, with some variegated vinca (with little blue blooms) trailing around the edge. And maybe something just green and shiny like a Wheelers dwarf Pittosporum.

But I reserve the right to change my mind hourly, not be able to afford what I want or not find what I have in mind. I hate that last part!
