She's not too far wrong is she? They do say it's the pollution we send up into the atmosphere that's a huge contributer to this whole deal. We have real problems with scares over skin cancer down here with the hole in the ozone layer.

The rainforest destruction statistics (see - no stutter when I *type* that word, LOL) are horribly frightening. :( And as far as the plants etc that are being destroyed that is beyond comprehension. Most (if not all) medical science in so far as drugs are concerned is based on what is found in plants and how they work. Regardless of whether they are then synthesised or not - they have to actually find the active compounds somehow first. This is an interesting topic and brings more to mind. Did you know that sudafed (the drug that is in cold remedies etc and is now being pulled due to associations with heart problems caused by it in some) was originally found as a component of a herb called Ephidera (sp? sorry without checking it). Anyway this herb in itself also contains compounds that are balancing and tonic to the heart but the scientists were not interested in that - they just wanted the one that relieves nasal congestion. Now look what they have - a drug that creates more problems than it fixes and what does nature have? A plant that had the whole 'meal deal' in and of itself. :) Clever nature!
