I like the plant idea, I don't know what grow's well in your area so that is going to be "key" you have to find a plant that is low maintence, needs little care and can bloom some pretty flower's. I would go to your local nursrey, have a look around and find one you like, than you can research from there, maybe something that re blooms every year around his birthday would be special????? talk to the nursrey and have them reccomend a special plant....

Just being supportive to him, is a gift all in itself.

you are so sweet, also look around your neighborhood and see what thrives in your climate with little care.
