I was a lot like Colleen in reading books well beyond my age. I was only forbidden one book growing up because my Mom felt it would give me nightmares. Of course, the first thing I did was run to the library and check it out. LOL!!! (And it did give me nightmares *grinning*).

I think what I'd do in your shoes is to talk with her about it first, tell her you are open to any questions she may have throughout the book, and let her go for it. Chances are what she hears in school on a day to day basis is a lot worse than almost anything she could read (and a lot more inaccurate).

But as always, I completely support your final decision and instincts. You are an outstanding Mom!!!
