Subject: The most interesting thing we ever had in a tank
In reply to: Lisa 's message, "oh those fish tanks." on 08:46:39 05/20/01 Sun

was Crawdads (Crayfish).
We also did the tropical fish for awhile and, like Lisa, had the usual problems and we lost interest.
But we went on a picnic once where the kids played in the creek and hunted for the usual...minnows, tadpoles and crawdads. I let them talk me into bringing some home in a bucket.
So we set up the tank with tadpoles and 2 crawdads. The crawdads got out the first night through the holes in the tank lid - but they were OK, we put them back in and sealed the holes.
It took them no time to eat all the tadpoles (what were we thinking?) and we fed them on bits of bologna, cheese and veggies. They grew constantly and shed their shells 3-4 times while we had them. We ended up taking them to the cemetary where there was a pond (and tadpoles) and letting them go. But they were interesting and quite a conversation piece!
