Kosses' head jerked up in surprise as the female darted infront of her. The dirt had dried since the last rain and was dusty in the aftermath of Moina's swift movement. Kosses' own trap parted, reveling the unpleastantness that was nessescary to hold a leadership position. Kosses' eye never left Moina or the threat at hand. But she was catching Gavin's neutral stance with the outside edges of her eyes. Least it wouldn't be two against one.

But as quickly as it had started, Kosses backed away. This was silly and there was no need for violence in a struggling pack. Kosses couldn't say she was happy that the pups were not hers...but she was happy they were here.

She lost all traces of authority and violence. It melted away like snow in a spring rain. She licked the jaws of her packmate and the new mother. "I am sorry. I have acted foolishly." She couldn't voice the pain of not having littered this summer. "I am happy to have you back. To have your brother home." She shot him a glance. "and to have your family."

She brought her rump to the ground and forfieted her size advantage. If it meant giving up her biological right to reproduce for the pack to keep Moina; then, she was willing to give it. Moina had been by her side during an attack. She had never dishonored Kosses. And Kosses wasn't going to repay her with banishment. She let a wary smile fit onto her parted, tongue lolling mouth. From now on, this battle would rage in Kosses' heart only.

She felt the betrayal of her mate, of her suitors, and of her own pups. She felt absolutely alone in the world. But feeling something and the reality were different things.
