Subject: The four percent solution

Let's talk about "The four percent solution"

While unconscious with a head injury, a Christmas Eve radio show sparks a memory for Mac when, plagued by insomnia after Webb's disappearance, she reluctantly sought the help of the psychologist who treated her after the hostage situation last year. But when the doctor refuses to give her anything without talking first, Mac is forced to face Webb's deceit.

What did you like about this episode?
What did you not like about this episode?
What did you think of Dr. McCool?
(I thought she was great!)
An outstanding performance by Catherine Bell
This episode was about Mac's feelings about Webb but there was so much more to talk about than Webb.
How do you think she felt about Webb?
How do you think she felt about Harm?
How do you think Mac felt about seeing a psychiatrist?
Would you have liked to have seen more of this, where she is talking with the Dr.?
What do you think about the title of the episode, it was cleverly worked into the script.
I placed some clips of the episode into the "jag christmas" video place above

Maybe thats a bettter quote than scene, but I loved the expression on her face as well. -- mkim, 10:27:01 12/28/08 Sun

[> [> What I would have liked is to see the morning after the accident and I would liked to have seen some kind of follow through in the next episode. 4% was a great ep. but it didnt fit with the next one, Automatic for the People, It was as though that closeness from 4% never happened, grrr. -- mkim, 10:29:00 12/28/08 Sun

[> This is one of my most favorite Jags. it gives Catherine an opportunity to show her really great acting ability. i was so hopeful at the end and then DB just dropped the ball. letdown. -- Linda R, the other nurse, 22:39:35 12/27/08 Sat

[> I hated that the episode was so sad....it would've been nice to of given Mac some kind of break, some glimmer of hope, but nope. It also would've been the perfect time to have some resolution to the whole Mac/Harm mess, & then the 2nd half of the season let them enjoy being with each other, i.e. some happiness. I think Mac, because of her past, very much tried to do things alone, & to keep things bottled up. I think it was very hard for her to accept Dr. McCool's help, even though she realized she needed it. Inside.... -- Jennifer, 13:06:48 12/30/08 Tue

I don't think that Mac ever stopped loving Harm, but at this time didn't think there was any hope. They both screwed up, its not only Mac's fault, & again she went to Harm's to talk, but he was busy & pretty much shut the door in her face (not the 1st time he'd done that). I think at that point Mac thought there truly was no hope, and yes again she made some choices that are her own, & was trying to deal with them. And then when Harm showed up at the hospital, I think that glimmer came back, but then like mkim said nothing else was acted upon in the future eps.

Outstanding performance by Catherine Bell, but overall an extremely sad episode & really not IMHO a feel good Christmas ep. Maybe again it could've been had Mac been given some hope (god did she ever get a break from DB? I know she didn't LOL), and we saw some true happiness not only for Mac but for Harm as well.

[> [> I agree Twinny. I truly believe Harm could have and should have gone through some well needed counceling himself. He was quite messed up himself throughout the 9 years for many many reasons which I won't go into. As far as the resolving things between Mac and Harm after that episode and working their way towards each other, I never got roped into that. DPB said that he "wasn't" going to get them together if at all until the very last episode of the series and he was true to his word. I know people kept hoping, but he kept on saying the same thing over the years so I lost any insight that he would do it. It's too bad because I think they could have some amazing stuff up until the end, but alas DPB was true to his word. -- KH, 16:27:25 01/06/09 Tue

[> WOW!! I havent been here for awhile!! What a GREAT topic to see for my first time back!! 4% Solution was such an outstanding ep beautifully performed by CB. The answer to the questions: Liked everything about this ep-was heartbreaking while all at the same time being hopeful. My FAVORITE scene (besides the hand holding at the end) was when Mac was talking to Dr. McCool about wanting a child -"collaboration w. God" and the "sonogram looked like the twins were praying". WOW the way CB delivered these lines- you could so see the mom in her (Gemma was almost 2). As for not liking- agree-wish DPB would have continued this SL but didnt. He dropped the ball on alot of eps but this one especially. All in all I would say that 4% Solution is in my top 5 favs. Missed yall!!! :) -- Kristen, 14:02:39 01/02/09 Fri

[> This was an amazing episode and it defnitely showcased Catherine's acting talent. She was phoenominal in this episode as well as others she did. I didn't have a problem with this Christmas episode not being storybook or happily ever after, because real life isn't like that. There are many people around the world who go rough times throughout the year and their problems or rough times don't stop or go on hold just because it's the holidays. Again I thought this was an amazing episode and Catherine nailed it. -- KH, 16:21:11 01/06/09 Tue
