Subject: WHATS THE POINT

I am someone who left UBF in 1985 after four years. Yes that is my real name, I don't believe in annonymity. Having just discovered this site, I have been reading with some interest. Frankly, I don't get what the point of "reforming" UBF is. I think you need to accept the fact that UBF is Sam Lee. Take him away and you don't have UBF. Obviously you would have something much better. Trying to reform UBF simply plays into Citizen Lee's hands by allowing him to create and maintain the seige mentality on which the group thrives. The fact that a lot of good happens in UBF does not mean that it should be salvaged. Good things happened in nazi prison camps, obviously in spite of the intention of their creators. Let go of UBF. Let it die. Let Sams power wither and fade with him. What is really needed is to form a group to mutually support those who have left and will leave. Support them regardless of the choices they make about their lives, whatever form their faith takes.
