There I was, just dozing off last night listening to Radio 5’s “thru the Night” programme when an item caught my attention, making me wake up. The feature came from a radio station in the U.S. with the announcer reading a story about how an artificial insemination donor had been successfully taken to court by a woman who had become pregnant by him, and now she was suing for maintenance. Apparently the couple had never met and yet she had won her case and the luckless donor was having to support the child! This made me think that the newly amended law in the U.K. which no longer protects the anonymity of the donor, is fraught with dangers.
