1. When the balls chop, are they on the face of your bolt, comming back into your powerfeed chamber, or just sprayed all the way down your barrel?

Unless the balls are comming out of the chamber on their own I wouldn't worry too much about the ball rentention spring (detent etc.) I may be wrong but as long as it's preventing double feeding and does retain the ball (unless acted on) it's doing just fine.

-Just FYI, how often are your chops? When working with a high pressure blowback like the F4 you have to expect to chop paint (unless you use really thick paint) the best counter is to use higher quality paint (thicker shelled etc.) However, there are times when chopping is excessive (the FAQ on here has a little about it www.f4og.com/faq.html)

2. When you reassemble the back of your chamber the small plastic piece in the spring should be in your velocity adjuster, while on the other side the pin (striker spring guide) should be in the spring (and into the striker)

You can get a rough idea of correct reassembly here: http://www.pbstar.com/semi-review/f4-illustrator/impressions.html (pic on the bottom)

Hope this helps!
