Branberry half yapped, half wailed in reply. She had decided to concentrate on standing and staying alive and didnt trust herself to speak. She instinctivly staggered back toward the ditch, her mind thinking foggily that the ditch would provide some shelter from wind. Plus, it was near. If she had been in full health, Branberry would have been loving the situation. A big blue widowed warrior fussing over her and the farthing Fox concerned for her! Not to mention his daughter, the lovely Dreamer. Branberry was fond of Dreamer and not just because of her parentage. The young vixen seemed a genuinly likable charecter. In fact, the older vixen couldnt help wandering, in a rather unmotherly way, if her son was quite good enough for such a charming vixen. All the same, Branberry was glad to see Traveller. She felt that at least if she should die now she would know that at least one of her many cubs was still alive.
Branberry floundered back to the ditch and rolled in. She looked up at the other foxes and took a deep breath before saying, "I'll stay here. Its sheltered from the weather if it wasnt for the frost, and that will soon melt. I cant go walking anywhere." She faltered and shivered. The town vixen was not exactly private about her feelings but she felt awkward about saying what she was about to say. However, it needed to be said. "Thankyou, all of you, for your concern. I dont deserve your help and I cant even honestly say that I would have done the same for you as I probably would not have. But now its different and..." she took another breath, then looked at Fox and Rocket. "You two I especially owe. I am nothing to you. You have no reason to help me and yet you do, and risk any desise. If I should recover I will be in your debt and if not, you will have an ally in whatever follows death when you die yourselves." She twisted her head to look at Dreamer and smiled, as despite knowing how old it would make her feel, she couldnt help being proud that any grandcubs that Traveller might produce would have such a plesant mother.
Branberry made an attempt to clean her coat out of vanity. It was a waste of her energy, she knew, but the presence of others always spurred her into grooming. She nodded to the others. "I must sleep. Thankyou for your help. You can leave me now, you have helped enough." She lay her head down shivering.

Traveller had been about to make a suggestion when Branberry moved herself into the ditch. To him, it seemed to be a symbolic movement and usually he would have feared the worst. However, the community spirit of farthing wood or perhaps of white deer park was spurring him to think positivly. His previous rage had subsided and he was back to his usual rational self. He looked down at his mother, feeling a little hurt. He couldnt help feel that she neglected him a bit. Wasnt she pleased to see him at all? But he shook off that feeling and looked at Rocket, who was dominating the situation. He breifly licked Dreamer on the nose, then stepped forward, adressing both Rocket and Fox out out politeness. Trying to keep any worry out of his tone he asked, "Is it likly my mother will recover on her own? Because if not, perhaps we should consider human help. I dont know how we could get it as I havent the sly ways to think up a suitable plan, but if it would help..." he trailed off and looked over at Branberry.
