Without consciously thinking about it, a pair of matching socks were fished out of the basket and tied together by the toes. ‘You know, if you roll your socks up into balls, it stretches and breaks the elastic.’ Okay, so Audrey was really good at a few things. Just don’t ask her to drive. Poor girl had already totaled 3 cars and maimed 2 more in the last month. Bastard deer and light posts need to stop jumping out in front of her. Setting the knotted garments down on the bed, she paused for a breath as she reached for a black t-shirt. ‘Nope. It’s pretty much impossible to get lost these days… with all the GPS gizmos and whatnot. Takes all the fun and adventure out of traveling.’ Her features and words were sickeningly sweet. Audrey did not appear the least bit worried or flustered. Generally, three was a crowd, but in this case, she could make an exception. Exceptions were everywhere; ‘i’ before ‘e’ and all that. Audrey tapped the surface of the bed with her hand and smiled.
