Once the battle with the snakes had been won, Erlic started to look around especially when he was advised that the placement of three snakes was a bit overkill considering there were no other passages or doorways in the room. Just before he started to look around, Jade handed him a magic rope, and he was quite impressed when he saw what it could do. It would come in extremely handy. He took the rope from the mage, and placed it in his backpack. He then gave Jade a kiss while whispering in her ear. “I’ll personally have to thank you for such a wonderful device,” he stated before resuming to examine the room.

Isobel had been examining the area near one of the baskets when suddenly she wasn’t there. Erlic got the attention of the other members when he managed to hear Isobel’s voice coming from somewhere outside the room. The guild master quickly started to examine the walls when he noticed his hand actually go through the wall itself. “It’s an illusion,” Erlic stated to the rest of the members. “There’s an opening here that someone didn’t want found.”

He carefully proceeded through the opening and was surprised to see stairs leading down. Slowly he, and the others followed them, and eventually came to Isobel who was waiting for them. Isobel quickly explained what had happened, and what she had found. The group made their way further into the cave, wondering why or how an underground lake could exist in such an area. What was even stranger was the island in the center of the lake, which had a hill in its center, and a lone doorway, which seemed the only way in.

At this point, the others finally made it to the edge of the waters of the underground lake. Corum looked round, and was surprised that there seemed to be some sort of path leading from the area where they stood, directly to the island. With the help of Yorik’s glowing eyes, Corum stepped onto the pathway, and started to make his way toward the island. He stopped, and turned to see if the others were coming.

“Yo guys!” the youth exclaimed. “You coming or not?”

Tia watched in fascination, as Corum appeared to be walking on water. Of course no one, including Corum, was aware that his ability to walk on the water came from the pin he now wore, which had been found in the sarcophagus. The petite thief decided that since Corum was able to walk on the water, there must have been something that he had seen, and the others hadn’t. Tia approached the edge of the lake, and finally seeing Corum waving her onward, took a step,……..and plunged directly into the water getting totally soaked. Corum shook his head in disbelief. Maybe Tia hadn’t set foot on the right path; otherwise she would be where he was. He headed back toward her, and stooped down. He pulled her out of the water, and placed her directly in front of him, only to see her plunge into the depths of the water once again. This was really weird. How was it that he could walk over the water, and the others couldn’t? Well, for now he decided not to worry about it, and bent down to pick up Tia once again. This time he carried her in his arms.

“Maybe you’re too heavy for the water or something,” Corum stated, while waiting for the others to join him. Tia’s eyes simply glared at him, and so he decided to remain quiet about the incident. Hell, it wasn’t his fault she had fallen into the water. But then again, he wasn’t aware of the magical properties of the pin he wore, which allowed him to walk on water.

Back on the shoreline the others decided to look around to see if there were any other means of traversing the water. After a scan of the area, Ravin managed to find what appeared to be an outcropping of vegetation. Under the vegetation he spotted a long boat, and hailed the others. The soon managed to inspect the boat, and found that it was still intact. They carried the vessel to the waters edge, boarded, and were soon paddling their way toward the island, while Corum kept up by walking, and carrying a very wet, and disgruntled Tia.

The party eventually made it to the island wondering what or who might be living inside the hill. After a short check of the area, they realized that there was only one way inside the hill, and that was through the door. Ravin decided to employ the gem that he used whenever he thought there might be magical traps. He was surprised that none were found, but then judging by their surroundings, someone would seem to be quite safe, living on an island in the middle of an underground lake. Ravin tried the door, which opened with ease, while the others continued to survey their surroundings in case of any danger. Once the door was opened, light from the inside flooded out. They slowly walked in, hands on their weapons, ready at any given moment for any signs of danger. The room was a foyer, and quite spotless. Magical light radiated from different areas of the room. So far there were no signs of danger, and the silence that emanated from the place made everyone a bit uneasy.

The group looked around and found nothing out of the ordinary with the exception of the magical light. The foyer appeared to be just what it was, a foyer. Ahead of them was an opening, and when they arrived, they could see into a very large room. At the far end of the room stood a pedestal, and on top of the pedestal appeared to be what looked like a fist size ruby.

Carefully the group made their way in, looking around for any signs of danger. The ceiling was at least twenty feet high. Along the walls stood various large statues, two of a lion, and two of a panther. As they gazed at the statues all of them wondered about the gem that stood at the far wall. As they slowly made their way deeper into the room, they could now see that the object was indeed a ruby, a very large one, and one that was extremely expensive.

So far the room stood motionless, and the adventurers continued to look around expecting danger at any given moment. Corum had thought he had spotted movement within the gem, and started to walk toward the pedestal. He looked at the jewel, and sure enough there was something, or someone inside it. Before anyone could shout a warning, Corum reached out and touched the gem. Suddenly all the statues came to life, and turned towards the adventurers who had disturbed the magical gem.

“Everyone watch out!” Erlic called out alerting everyone within the room.
